Ghatika Monthly Meditation 13: Embracing Balance - Navigating Healthy Boundaries and Boundless Love

2024

Description

The idea of “healthy boundaries” might at first sound contrary to ideals such as boundless loving-kindness or compassion. Can personal boundaries and unconditional love really coexist?

In this session, Dr. Anita Milicevic, Research and Education Director at CCR, demonstrates that boundaries are not about creating separateness but about developing and maintaining balance within interdependent interactions. She will also discuss how practicing and cultivating healthy boundaries leads to conative (related to intention), ethical, and spiritual balance and authentic well-being. Such practices are crucial for enhancing our individual, family, community, and global mental health and sense of harmony.

Dr. Milicevic also addresses questions such as:

  • Why are healthy boundaries essential for mental well-being?
  • How can practicing mindfulness and introspection help us recognize when our boundaries are tested or violated?
  • What strategies can we use to effectively communicate our boundaries without causing defensiveness or conflict?
  • How can personal boundaries and unconditional love coexist?

What is Ghatika Monthly?

Ghatika Monthly is an in-person and virtual gathering held on the 2nd Saturday of every month, in which CCR expert teachers offer accessible guidance in foundational yet transformative contemplative practices. Ghatika is the Sanskrit term for one 24-minute meditation session, which is the recommended length for beginning meditators. We offer these sessions freely to ensure that anyone can access contemplative techniques for cultivating a healthier, more balanced mind.
